In fact, the increasing importance of environmental issues in the economic decision-making processes is often articulated through strategies that aim to achieve equilibrium between economic and environmental efficiency (Valero-Gil et al., 2017).    Eco-innovation contributes to the achievement of environmental objectives, generating competitive advantages (Porter and Van der Linde, 1995) and ultimately improving the financial performance of companies that practise eco-innovation.
