Resumen: The Article presents a new approach to research on school leadership: The principals’ professional identity from a narrative approach, linked in turn successful school leadership. After a theoretical framework, the voices of 15 principals. Biographical interviews are gathered, analyzed taking into account sociocultural context in a combination of categories according to frequency rate categorical and its description as the voices of principals. Paper concludes, as a hypothesis to verify in this strands of research, if successful leadership practices depend largely on principals identities (being recognized).
